Pilot job market / Agricultural
The agricultural pilot job market
Agricultural pilots apply seed, fertilizer and crop protection products from a few feet above the field, in purpose-built airplanes and helicopters. The season brings long days and demanding, precise flying.
Operators look for strong stick-and-rudder skills, and since most ag airplanes are taildraggers, many expect tailwheel time. Some train new pilots through structured programs before giving them a full season of work.
There are no active agricultural listings right now. New listings are added every night, and members can set an alert to hear about them by email.
Before you apply
- Agricultural flying is conducted under Part 137, and the operator must hold an agricultural aircraft operator certificate.
- A private pilot generally may not fly for compensation, so ag work for hire requires a commercial pilot certificate.
- Over congested areas, the pilot in command needs at least 100 hours of experience dispensing agricultural materials as pilot in command, plus 25 hours as pilot in command in the make and basic model being flown.
