Pilot job market / Banner tow

The banner tow pilot job market

Banner towing is seasonal flying over beaches, stadiums and events. Most flights start with a low pass to snag the banner from poles on the ground and end with a drop back at the field.

Hiring peaks in late winter and spring ahead of the summer season, and many operators take commercial pilots with modest experience. The figures below cover the banner tow listings currently on USA Pilot Jobs.

Before you apply

  • Towing a banner is allowed only under an FAA certificate of waiver, which the operator holds; pilots fly under its terms.
  • Banner towing is aerial work flown under Part 91, and being paid to fly it requires a commercial pilot certificate.
  • Many banner aircraft are tailwheel airplanes, so a tailwheel endorsement is a frequent requirement.
